Cathy Moon

Cathy is a Shibori artist from Brisbane whose love of colour and design have paved the way for her adventures with Shibori and Design. Her work has been exhibited in many Galleries around Australia and Internationally at the Shibori Symposiums in Paris, Hong Kong and most recently in Japan.

Having resided in the Northern Territory for 5 years, Cathy embraced the vivid colours of the outback in her early works. She now enjoys working with natural dyes such as Madder, Pomegranate, Beet, Iron Rust and Indigo to create colour in her shibori pieces.

Cathy enjoys working with all shibori techniques but has a particular passion for stitched shibori such as Karamatsu, katana, Awase-nui and Guntai. Stitching has always been a part of her life and artistic expression.

Cathy is currently the editor of the World Shibori Network Australia and New Zealand newsletter and is a past board member for TAFTA. Her work has featured in numerous magazines including Textile Fibre Forum, Embellish, Textiles Down Under and in the book Textiles, The Art of Mankind by Mary Schoeser.
