In this workshop we will create laminated cloth, using gummy silk fibres, abaca paper, newspaper, cotton scrim, sheer fabrics, paper napkins, chiffon and images. We will explore several different ways of producing smooth and textured surfaces to stitch on.

You can use your own photographic images, text from old books, old maps, music or newspapers. We will work with stencils, screens, colour, layering, stitch and burn with added slips.

Then onto stitch using a sewing machine  and hand stitch, looking at what can happen when you work with papers, transparent fabrics and media.

These unique surfaces can tell a story.

Suitable for all levels and the only requirements are enthusiasm and a willingness to explore and enjoy.
