Creative World of Mixed Media Mayhem
Jen Crossely
In this workshop I will take you on a whirl wind ride through the many elements of mixed media.
This course will explore metal etching and creating pieces that can turn into books or jewellery. We’ll get hands-on with resin by making your own moulds, casting, and trying both fast and slow setting resin.
The course will move into bookbinding to make your own journal, decorating the cover with found objects and learning simple cold connections using rivets, wire, screws, nails, eyelets and waxed linen thread. We’ll also make some found object jewellery, so bring along any little treasures you’d love to turn into something wearable.
Students are encouraged to bring their own bits and pieces to make the work feel personal. Metal scraps, found items and paper ephemera are all great options. Family photos or small personal items can also be added into your jewellery.
A wide range of techniques will be covered, and you can pick and choose what you’d like to use throughout the week.
Skill level required: All levels welcome

“Teaching is my passion. I have been doing it now for 25years, 15years of which have been spent teaching mixed media techniques. Seven years ago I achieved my dream of teaching in the United States, and have gone on to teach at many art retreats. I’ve been praised for appealing to both beginners and advanced students, giving clear and concise instructions, and making techniques look easy which in turn, provides my students with the confidence to go forward in their creative processes.”
