Hand Spinning Immersive: From Fibre to Yarn

Janet Day

This five-day immersive is designed for both beginners and experienced spinners who wish to deepen their understanding of hand spinning.

Together, we’ll move from raw fibre to finished yarn—exploring drafting, twist, plying, and fibre preparation in a relaxed and supportive environment.

We’ll begin with the drop spindle to build a strong foundation in twist and drafting before adapting those same principles to the spinning wheel. Each day will be a blend of demonstration, practice, and conversation, with plenty of time for questions, experimentation, and discovery.

By week’s end, participants will have spun, plied, washed, and finished several skeins—and even begun to knit a simple project straight from their freshly spun yarn. Along the way, we’ll celebrate the tactile joy and quiet mindfulness that make spinning such a beloved craft.

All skill levels welcome!
