Blooming Botanicals: Botanical Textile Sculptures

Jennie-Maree Tempest

In this workshop, you’ll have the chance to bring your favourite blooms to life using fabric and thread, transforming them into beautiful botanical artworks.

Whether you’re inspired by a beloved flower from your garden or an iconic native plant, you’ll explore how to capture its character through texture, shape and stitch.

Throughout the session, Jennie-maree will introduce you to a range of techniques including free-motion embroidery on water-soluble fibre, 3D appliqué and sculptural construction methods. You’ll be guided step by step in developing your chosen subject, from initial concept through to finished piece, while also learning how to apply these techniques to a wide variety of flora.

This workshop is ideal for anyone looking to expand their textile skills, experiment with dimensional embroidery, and immerse themselves in creating botanical forms with depth, detail and personality.

All skill levels welcome however, basic machine sewing skills required.

Free motion machine sewing skills helpful but not necessary.
