Creative Mixed Media Mayhem

Jen Crossley

In this workshop I will take you on a whirlwind ride through the many elements of mixed media.

We will dabble in the wonderful and addictive world of Resin, resin work, which will include: making your own molds, casting, working with fast and slow setting resin. Incorporating the resin pieces in to jewellery and a book.

We explore the world of book binding to make your own unique journal, adding found objects to the front of the books, learning cold connections using, rivets, wire, brass screws, nails, eyelets, wax linen thread.

Learning to age gracefully on our metals, papers, resin, through paints, patinas, waxes and Heat treatments.

Students are encouraged to bring their own unique bits n pieces to make this their own creation.  Keep in mind when deciding what to bring, that both jewelry and surface design will be explored through metal, resin techniques. So, any metal materials, found items and paper empherma finds would be perfect to incorporate.

We will explore the world of ‘found object’ jewellery so bring along family images to incorporate.

There will be a wide variety of techniques to learn and students can choose many to use and incorporate into their projects throughout the week.

All skill levels welcome!

Jen Crossley is an Australian mixed-media artist and highly sought after instructor.

Her art is truly unique, incorporating found objects, vintage ephemera, etched metal, resin, and more. With a true eye for detail and the ability to see past a rusty bit of metal, Jen is able to create assemblage pieces, tiny books, and stunning jewelry from this assortment of pieces she collects.

“Teaching is my passion. I have been doing it now for 25years, 15years of which have been spent teaching mixed media techniques. Seven years ago I achieved my dream of teaching in the United States, and have gone on to teach at many art retreats. I’ve been praised for appealing to both beginners and advanced students, giving clear and concise instructions, and making techniques look easy which in turn, provides my students with the confidence to go forward in their creative processes.”
